We're excited to share our good news with you. Thanks to the generosity of organizations and individuals, we'll be in an even better position to support our mission for years to come!
As you might know, Marshfield Area Community Foundation, Inc. (MACF) was established by Anne and Bette Adler in 1993 when they offered a challenge grant of $25,000. This money was used to establish the Adler Family Fund. Today we have over 119 funds with assets totaling $5.0 million. These funds help to fulfill our mission: Connecting people who care with causes that matter to enrich the quality of life in the Marshfield area. We have funds that support a wide variety of non-profits in our community- we support scholarships, the YMCA, Goodwill, ODC, the Tiny Tiger Intergenerational Center, the Catholic parishes, Lucille Tack Center for the Arts, Hamus Park, Griese Park, youth baseball, Hackman Field, Tiger Hockey, Marshfield Area Habitat for Humanity...the lists goes on. All good causes. But it costs money to do business- to keep the lights on and have people available to help. We do a yearly solicitation to help raise funds for operations and community grants.
Our Board of Trustees agreed to go ahead and start an Operational Endowment. The Endowment allows us to spend 4-5% each year from the earnings to help support operations. This allows us to give more back to the community through our Community Grants.
In January of 2009, Anne Adler passed away in Milwaukee. In January of 2010, Anne and Bette Adler, donated $200,000 to MACF to the Operational Endowment. They then offered another challenge; if we could raise $150,000O from the community towards the endowment, they would donate a matching $150,000. On July 27, 2010 we held an event to announce that the challenge had been met by community members that included; Security Health Plan of Wisconsin, Ken and Joyce Billings, the Dental Clinic of Marshfield, Floyd and Patricia Hamus, Bill and Sue Heiting, Marshfield Savings Bank, Alan and Pat Billings, Darlene and Bill Berry, Jack and Ann Browell, and Tom and Amber Leifheit.
Having reached the challenge goal of $150,000 doesn't mean we are done. The more we can raise for the endowment, the more we can give back. So we continue to raise funds for this cause. If you would like more information about the endowment or the Foundation, please contact us.
