2018 Gift Deadlines

Dec 3, 2018

The most generous people in central Wisconsin trust the Marshfield Area Community Foundation as their partner in philanthropy. Together, we are improving the quality of life in our community now and for future generations. It's been our mission for more than 25 years.

With the holidays and the end of the year quickly approaching, it's an ideal time to establish or add to a fund at the Marshfield Area Community Foundation. Your end-of-year gift will ensure you realize maximum tax benefits from your generosity.
I've also incuded some notes below about important deadlines and our holiday hours. December 31 is on a Monday this year, so donors must plan ahead to have their gifts eligible for 2018 tax deductions.

Happy Holidays,
Amber

End of Year Deadlines:

Marshfield Area Community Foundation, Inc. has several dates you should keep in mind when planning for your year-end charitable giving. Please keep these important dates in mind to ensure that your gifts qualify for a charitable income tax deduction in the 2018 tax year.

Year-End Tax Receipting:

In order to receive a 2018 deduction for a contribution to Marshfield Area Community Foundation, Inc. by check, the contribution must be:

-- Received in the MACFI office on or before December 31;

or

--Mailed in an envelope postmarked on or before December 31

Credit card gifts must be processed by MACFI and the charge must appear on your credit card statement with a date of 12/31/18 or prior. We encourage donors to make credit card gifts online on or before December 29. You may donate to any fund at MACFI using your credit card at this link.

Stock and Mutual Funds: For gifts of mutual fund shares, depending on how the shares are held, the transaction process can be lengthy. Early notification of these gifts will help ensure a smooth transfer, and we encourage you to contact us as soon as possible to begin your transaction. For stock transfers, please call Amber no later than December 17 to begin your transaction.

Donor Advised Funds: Is your tax or financial advisor predicting that tax reform in 2018 will result in reduce your ability to take tax deductions for charitable gifts? Perhaps he is advising that you take as many tax deductions as possible in 2018? A donor-advised fund at MACF can be a convenient way to make a single gift, take advantage of year-end tax savings and recommend multiple distributions to various charities over time. Making your gift with appreciated stocks or mutual funds will further increase the tax savings. To learn more or to open a donor advised fund call Amber at (715) 384-9029.
